Fitness is for all of us. At every stage of life.
Move well. Feel well.
Being able to move with fluidity, confidence, and strength, is critical to maintaining independence and preventing falls as we get older.
Functional movement assists you in feeling better in your body, can prevent falls, and helps you perform everyday tasks more easily.
Not everyone has to (or wants to, or can) run a marathon, do High Intensity Hit Interval (HITT) training, or power lift to be healthy and fit.
And not all exercise has to be a long, sweaty, grind to get you the results you seek. Your workouts should be individualized to suit your specific needs, abilities, likes, and dislikes.
Even simple improvements in movement, balance and strength can help you prevent falls, feel better, and live more joyfully.
At Our Age, We Have Different Fitness Needs.
We all want to look good naked.
Yeah, even us women over 50.
And, heck, there are lots of fitness programs out there — everything from bootcamps to at-home workouts with soup cans.
Most feature pretty young things looking good naked or semi-naked.
Few— if any — feature older women looking good — dressed or naked.
Why?
Because most online and gym programs are not designed for the older woman.
They are not designed to address what most adult women need in terms of strength, balance, and mobility to improve their health and longevity.
They are not designed to work with your past or current injuries or health conditions.
Most do not address balance and fall prevention at all.
And yet, women over 50 are active and are out there working out.
Plenty. And consistently.
But they have different fitness needs.
Some may be cancer survivors, or have autoimmune diseases, or high blood pressure, or bad hips or knees.
Yet these issues are not being addressed by the big box gyms or mass online virtual fitness programs.
Think that twenty-something Personal Trainer in the gym or online understands your health challenges and how to help you move better?
I doubt it.
Our lives are very different at this age.
So our fitness programs and our coaches need to be different too.
We can still transform our bodies.
Absolutely!!
We can still gain strength and improve our fitness, and look good naked.
But it takes a different approach.
And a different type of coach.
I am not a “take-no-prisoners” drill sergeant Personal Trainer.
Nor am I a young trainer with no experience working with clients who are cancer survivors or have health issues or past injuries.
I understand your stress, your lifestyle, and the dynamics of family pressure when you are trying to make a transformation. Especially when it comes to changing your nutrition. (Anyone else out there have macro-mocking, quinoa-hating husband?)
And I know that sometimes you wake up and just can’t do a tough workout that day. I get it that sometimes, things “click” or go “ping” for absolutely no known reason.
That’s why I specialize in 1-on-1 Personal Training (either online or in-person) rather than group training.
Because I believe that at this age, we need — and deserve — to have some personal attention when it comes to our fitness. We need workouts designed for us—not for young Tic Tockers — so we can get the transformations we want so much.
You can transform your body at this age.
You just need someone who will focus on YOU and can help YOU get there.
